Honoring Bev and Mike
On May 21st departing members of the Beaver Island community
were honored for work “above and beyond” at an EMS picnic
by their many friends.
Besides the plaques they were given for their years of unstinting
service, a number of people spoke about the Russells’ special
qualities, and why they will be so greatly missed. It was rumored
one man even included this backhanded tribute: “Mike, I know
you knew I'd grabbed that current plate off some car at the airport,
so thanks for not busting me, man. I mean, those who owned it
hardly ever came up.”
