Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Plans
In an effort to top last year's flyover by a pair of F-16s, Steve
West is working to bring two Marine Harrier jets to Beaver Island
on the 4th of July. If the pieces fall into place, these unique
fighters will stage a demonstration of their hovering ability
over the harbor, and then be available for an up-close look at
the Township Airport.
The Chamber has chosen a theme for this year's parade: America's
Freedom is Forever Precious. The parade is scheduled for
2:00 p.m., and will be led by two active-duty Marine officers.
Island Airways will perform its missing man flyover as well. John
Works Civil War cannon will start the parade. And the Community
Choir will sing patriotic songs downtown beforehand, starting
at 1:30.
