On the first Sunday of June, on a sunny day after church, a crowd
of 60 or so gathered at the Community House site for a Groundbreaking
Ceremony. A utility building had appeared the day before (thanks
to Jon and Sally Fogg), and plastic shovels were passed to 20
of the many people who had played important roles in bringing
the project this far. Judy Lanier-Gallagher acted as MC, reciting
a brief history of PABIs struggle to reach this point. Just
before noon Construction Committee chairman Don Tritsch, using
a real shovel, lifted out the first scoop of sand to mark the
end of the preliminary stage: the lengthy planning for what promises
to become an important asset to the community.
