Former Beaver Island resident Cecelia Kinney passed away in Battle
Creek at the age of 93. Ceil lived on the Island during the early
50s, opening a beauty salon in what became the Rountree House
and then the Hirschey House, and also working at the Shamrock.
In later years she operated beauty salons in Detroit and Milford,
eventually retiring to Battle Creek. She is survived by her two
daughters (who lived here with her) Patricia Burke of Las Vegas
and Marilyn (Walter) McCauley of Battle Creek, five grandchildren,
and six great-grandchildren.
