 The
Laurain Lodge, feeling that someone besides Marge Peters (last
year’s winner, pictured) must have the magic eye, is continuing
its annual contest for the biggest Island-picked morel by offering
a $100 prize.
Larry Laurain will pick the winter, using a special mushroom
caliper to ascertain the circumference and height. In case of
identical entrants, the tie will be broken by weight–and
if they weigh the same, by taste. The contest will remain open
until the day after no more morels are being found. (Note: inflation
with an air pump is strictly not allowed.)
