TDS Telecom announced that BICS senior Kerrie Gillespie won its
annual Essay Contest, receiving a $200 scholarship.
She's now in the running for the next round of awards, $10,000
in scholarship money at the national level. If she wins that,
her sponsoring teacher will also receive $500 in educational materials.
Needless to say, she’s receiving plenty of encouragement
and advice.
Kerrie was praised for her excellent submission, which demonstrated
a high degree of writing talent–only fitting for the daughter
of the Island's former (and still undefeated in open competition)
poet laureate.
