Soccer - Thanks to the Islanders
for once again providing great Friday and Saturday sports to
watch as we wait for fall colors another season of win,
win!
The
Cisco Launched - A fine addition to our
harbor, after many months of work, the Cisco was launched
September 2nd, 2005, as the whole town came out to watch.
Museum
Week 2005 - Despite record temperatures on the Island,
the 25th annual Museum Week was a great success.
Wives
of an American King - a new play by Ann-Marie Oomen
produced by EIR in conjunction with Museum Week 2005.
Happy
4th of July - Despite worries that rain would fall,
the day developed into beautiful sunshine, the crowds came out
to Main Street, the cannon fired, and the parade was off. This
year had a special skydiving surprise, two beautiful ponies,
and the Island's largest dog complete with saddle.
At
dusk, The Clyde Fogg Memorial Boat Parade illuminated
the harbor in honor of a man who will be remembered and missed.
And
finally, Fireworks over Paradise Bay provided the perfect
closing to the 4th of July, 2005. More pictures in the upcoming

Citizens
of the Year - Phil and Lil Gregg were recognized
as Beaver Island Citizens of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce
at the annual Award Banquet. Full story in the May Beacon.
Spring
Sunsets have arrived - (above at Redding's Trail)
It's difficult to predict when a sunset will bloom from nice
to spectacular, but the great 50+ degree weather sure makes
it a lot more fun trying!
Happy
St. Patrick's Day! - despite a day when the horizontally
flying snow prevented one from seeing the Lighthouse across
the harbormuch less the end of the blockSt. Pat's
was celebrated with good cheer and more with games moved inside

Community
House Underway - Work is now proceeding quickly
on the new community house downtown - with the footings and
slab poured and blockwork underway. Click

The
Ice is Gone! - Thanks to the Acacia, the harbor
is once again open and the Emerald Isle making her runs
to and from Charlevoix. With the harbor free of ice, summer

The
Annual Talent Show
this year featured belly dancing, tap, great guitar and
piano, and the voices of Island favorites and the next generation.

Islander
Sports
provided great entertainment for the whole Island to warm
up the cold winter season. Stories in the February and March

Bull
in a China Shop - presented by the Beaver Island Community

Work
on the Yacht Dock - progressing quickly and really starting
to take shape. Photos and story in the December Beacon.
New
Fire Truck Arrives! - The brand new fire truck generously
donated in memory of Fritz Steinbach arrived on the Island this
month and will be housed in the new east side fire station which
is under construction. Photos in the December Beacon.
Homeland
Security Fence Erected - As required by law, a new fence
was erected around the ferry dock. Story and photos in the December

The
2004 Christmas Cantata - was again spectacular this year
with two beautiful performances directed by Kathy Speck and
Mike Scripps, as well as stunning solos by Danielle Cary and
by Brenda LeFerve and Brian Porter. Photos in the January Beacon.
A
Tuna Christmas - performed by the Emerald Isle Repertory
Theatre to the delight of crowds over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Happy
Halloween! - from the Laurain Lodge and Beaver Island! Photograph

Second Annual Island Boodle - Even though some runners were
fogged-in in Charlevoix, the Boodle and Bite were a great success

New
Smooth Highway - The Kings's Highway is now very different
- not only do cars no longer rattle apart on the way from town
to Four Corners, but more shocking, the King's Highway now has
painted lane lines!
Rebuilding
the Yacht Dock - The Municipal Yacht Dock will have a new
structure for next summer thanks to Great Lakes Dock and Materials.

Gull Harbor Heron - While driving around the loop, this
heron provided a wonderful show swooping between two shoreline
spots and a perch atop a rock in the surf.
Museum
Week 2004 - The art show was the largest event of the week,
followed by many favorites performing at Music on the Porch.

Racing
to Beaver - The Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Boyne
Thunder to make Beaver a poker run destination. Photos in the

A
Concert on the Harbor - The Northport Band conducted by
Doug Scripps and joined by the Beaver Island Community Choir.
A
Rainy 4th of July - The weather presented a bit of a challenge
this year, but Islanders didn't let the rain stand in the way

Coast Guard Cutter appears out of the Fog. The fog was so
thick that we couldn't see a trace of her as we could hear the
ship cutting the channel past Whiskey Point, but then a few
hundred feet from the dock, she emerged at last to usher in
